Efficient Tyres & Eco Maintenance for Rental Cars

Efficient tyres and eco maintenance for your rental

Proper maintenance means lower fuel use, fewer emissions and better safety. Before you set off, it pays to know how tyre choice and a few quick checks help across your whole trip.

EU tyre label: what to look for

The label summarises three key aspects. Rolling resistance (A–E) affects fuel use directly; better grades cut energy loss and can save money on long drives. Wet grip (A–E) shortens braking on wet surfaces, common around Cluj in spring and autumn. External noise (dB) matters for comfort, especially on the motorway.

Correct pressure: instant effect on consumption

Underinflation increases fuel use, lengthens stopping distance and creates uneven wear. Do a quick visual check at pickup; on the road, if the TPMS light comes on, top up air at the next station. Recommended values are on the driver's door pillar. Avoid kerbs and potholes – they can cause bulges or sidewall cuts.

Eco maintenance: small habits, big impact

Keep filters (air, cabin) clean, use the correct-viscosity oil, and ensure alignment/balance to avoid saw-tooth wear. Driving style matters: gentle acceleration, engine braking and steady speeds reduce consumption and protect the running gear.

What we check between rentals

We rotate tyres on schedule, check tread depth and pressure, balance wheels and inspect brakes. Winter/summer sets are fitted seasonally for optimal grip.

Stress-free returns

Before returning the car, do a quick walk-around and keep your fuel receipt if full-to-full applies.
